When the Archaeological Department entrusted me and my team with the colossal responsibility of sculpting the life of the Lion of Kerala in mud, I was only too happy to grab the opportunity. Pazhassi Raja Tomb is the memorial of Pazhassi Raja, the ‘Lion of Kerala’. I wholly understood the magnitude of the work as it meant turning and twisting the ethereal moments in the life of the great warrior and engraving the moments in mud with a photographic effect. I am confident that the pains I have taken in depicting the Pazhassi story has paid as I see the empathy in the public, watching the story encrypted in his tomb at Manathavady, Wayanad. Chiselling the story of a man, who happened to hold the reins of the most important turning point in the history of Kerala, I surely know, is not a tiny task.
